The project « Rural Europe Network (REN) » has been funded by the European Union within the program <<Europe for citizens>>

10 events held in the RURAL EUROPE NETWORK (REN) project from October 2014 to April 2016 .

The REN project involved 5 European countries ( Italy, Croatia, Sweden, Finland and Spain) and 8 municipalities ( Borgo Val di Taro, Pellegrino Parmese, Portole, Buzet, Falkoping, Jalasjarvi, Camarinas and Vila de Cruces) for a total of 410 direct participants, nearly 1000 stakeholders involved and 1000000 European citizens informed about the project activities through communication media.

Event 1

Participation: It allowed to get together 31 citizens : 2 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden), 2 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 1 from the city of Portole (Croatia), 2 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland), 2 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 2 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 7 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 12 from the city Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Borgo Val di Taro (Italy) from 28/10/2014 to 30/10/2014

Description : Coordination and preparation of project activities meeting Representatives of the municupalities involved in REN discussed about the implementation of the project activities, about financial aspects and the coordination among the partners and between the project coordinator and the partnership, about the comunication and dissemination strategy. An important aspect for the management of the project has been the decision to create a web site (www.renproject.eu) in which it was possible to upload all the materials produced during the project phases.

Event 2

Participation: It allowed to get together 77 citizens: 4 from the city Falkoping (Sweden), 4 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 4 from the city of Portole (Croatia), 4 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland), 14 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 38 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 4 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 5 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Camarinas (Spain) from 03/03/2015 to 06/03/2015

Description :Transnational Thematic Seminary The partners dedicated 4 working days to the presentation and the discussion of good practices about two focus themes of the project: the formal and informal training of young farmers to increase their competitiveness in the job market and the relation between city-country with its interactions and connections. During the event, 21 practices have been presented by all the involved countries, and participants comparated and discussed them in two sessions of working groups guided by facilitators. The event was joined by representatives the target groups of the project, young farmers, representatives of training institutions and representatives of the municipalities.

Event 3

Participation: It allowed to get tgogether 70 citizens : 4 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden), 32 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 14 from the city Portole (Croatia), 4 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland), 4 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 4 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 3 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 5 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Buzet (Croatia) from 14/04/2015 to 17/04/2015

Description: Transnational Thematic Seminary Representatives of the partnership presented , discussed and visited other good practices ( 26 in total) on the second focus theme of the project : the possibilities for development of rural areas through alternative activities in tourism , culture , energy and local development frameworks . The participants took part in a plenary session , two sessions of working groups (one dedicated to the possibilities of development through the production and use of renewable energies and one dedicated to local marketing ) and study visits in the area . The event saw a good participation of the target groups of the project , young farmers , representatives of associations , agencies for territorial development and representatives of municipalities.

Event 4

Participation: It allowed to get together 28 citizens : 1 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden), 2 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 1 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 2 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 16 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 6 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Pellegrino Parmense (Italy) from 26/06/2015 to 8/06/2015

Description : Local valorization meeting The event was aimed to let, the representatives of the project's stakeholders and young farmers know the good practices presented by the host municipality directly " on the field . Regarding this event , good practices were, on the one side the restoration project of the ancient grains for the local intangible heritage protection and on the other hand the presentation of the Parmigiano Reggiano production chain.

Event 5

Participation: It allowed to get together 26 citizens : 1 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden), 1 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 1 from the city of Portole (Croatia), 1 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 1 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 1 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 2 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy) and 18 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland).

Place/Date: the event took place in Jalasjarvi (Finland) from 11/08/2015 to 13/08/2015 Description:local valorization meeting The event was aimed to let the representatives of the project's stakeholders and the young farmers know the good practices presented by the host municipality directly " on the field . " Regarding this event was discussed the issue of informal training courses for young people ( not only farmers but also disadvantaged categories ) and the promotion of the territory through local products .

Event 6

Participation: it allowed to get together 31 citizens : 1 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 16 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 9 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 2 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 3 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Vila de Cruces (Spain) from 07/09/2015 to 09/09/2015 Description: local valorization meeting The event was aimed to let the representatives of the project's stakeholders and the young farmers know the good practices presented by the host municipality directly " on the field . " Regarding this event, the focus was the implementation of the project of Galo Celta, the recovery of an indigenous breed of rooster around which the hosting town produced a high level of local and international marketing.

Event 7

Participation: it allowed to get together 26 citizens : 8 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 1 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 1 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 1 from the city of Falkopinge and 15 from the city of Portole (Croatia).

Place/Date: the event took place in Portole (Croatia) from 25/09/2015 to 27/09/2015 Description: local valorization meeting The event was aimed to let the representatives of the project's stakeholders and the young farmers know the good practices presented by the host municipality directly " on the field . " Regarding this event , the good practice presented was the promotion system that occurs through the production and the valorization of local products such as truffles . Value added of this meeting was the possibility of organizing a training period of some Finnish students in a rural farm in Portole .

Event 8

Participation: it allowed to get together 27 citizens : 1 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 1 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 1 from the city of Portole (Croatia), 1 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense, 3 from the city of Borgo Val di Taro (Italy), 2 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland) and 18 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden).

Place/Date: the event took place in Falkoping (Sweden) from 30/09/2015 to 02/10/2015. Description: local valorization meeting The event was aimed to let the representatives of the project's stakeholders and the young farmers know the good practices presented by the host municipality directly " on the field . " Regarding this event , particular focus was placed its two themes : the training course for young farmers sponsored by the municipality and the valorization of rural areas through the use of renewable energy and the promotion of niche products .

Event 9

Participation: it allowed to get together 26 citizens : 2 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden), 2 from the cityof Buzet (Croatia), 1 from the city of Portole (Croatia), 16 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland), 1 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 1 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 1 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 2 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Seinajoki (Finland) from 09/12/2015 to 12/12/2015.

Description : evaluation meeting The representatives of the partnering municipalities met to evaluate the process of interaction between the transnational context ( presentation of good practices from different countries ) and the local context , in particular which good practices have represented an added value for local stakeholders and for the participants. The presentation of the activities carried out during the local meetings was very important as well as their impact at local level. The most important best practices have also been identified among all those presented during the project activities .

Event 10

Participation: it allowed to get together 80 citizens : 4 from the city of Falkoping (Sweden), 4 from the city of Buzet (Croatia), 4 from the city of Portole (Croatia), 4 from the city of Jalasjarvi (Finland), 6 from the city of Vila de Cruces (Spain), 4 from the city of Camarinas (Spain), 15 from the city of Pellegrino Parmense and 39 from the city of Borgo val di Taro (Italy).

Place/Date: the event took place in Borgo Val di Taro (Italy) from 18/04/2016 to 21/04/2016

Description :Final meeting and follow up Participants took part in a plenary session in which were presented the results of the project , the impact on stakeholders and the experience of the transfer of two good practices : 1. The training method promoted by the Swedish partners among young farmers of the municipality of Pellegrino Parmense ; 2. the internship experience of young Finns in Croatian rural businesses . One day was devoted to work on the follow-up projectual with the creation of three working groups : one for political representatives , one dedicated to the stakeholders interested in the promotion of rural areas through local marketing and one dedicated to the stakeholders interested in the promotion of training programmes and internships for young farmers .
